Q: How many adults travel with each group?

We aim to take between 12 and 18 students per team, maintaining a minimum adult-to-student ratio of 1:8. A qualified leader or local leader will always be matched with your group, and we will fully fund each school leader/adult place required on top of the leader/guide to meet this ratio. We believe teachers are such an integral part of the leadership team, we’ll often fund more places than required.

Q: What's included in the price of a World Challenge expedition?

Your price covers: All flights and overseas transport Main meals Accommodation A trained Expedition Leader with your school group Trek permits Guide fees Project contributions 24/7 support from our Operations Centre Access to a support team and dedicated portal Comprehensive insurance cover for each passenger while you are travelling.

Q: What's not included in the price of a World Challenge expedition?

Your students will need to budget for: Personal kit, such as boots and a rucksack Any visas and vaccinations for the destination Transport to and from the UK airport or departure point Some spending money for snacks, souvenirs, tips and optional activities. We’ll give you a kit list and guidance on where to find up-to-date visa and vaccination advice. You don’t need to buy everything new either; asking family and friends to borrow a backpack or sleeping bag is a good way to keep costs down.

Q: Why does World Challenge cost more than some other school trips?

Schools choose to work with us because we don’t compromise on quality, safety, community initiatives or our Expedition Leaders. We’re proud to offer the most comprehensive safety and backup in the industry, with a support team that is here for you and your group every step of the way. We invest in the best leaders and meaningful partnerships with the communities the teams visit. What sets us apart from an average trip is that we care about delivering the most meaningful experience we can.

Q: What is the cancellation policy if I change my mind or need to withdraw for medical reasons?

From the date of their application, they have a 14-day cooling-off period to change their mind and receive a full refund. If someone withdraws from the trip after this 14-day period, their cancellation will be handled in line with our Terms & Conditions (available on your World Challenge portal). Just as they would with a normal holiday, we recommend parents purchase their own pre-departure cancellation insurance to cover their child, should they decide to withdraw before departure.

Our World Challenge expedition to Morocco was genuinely one of the most rewarding school trips I’ve been part of. Seeing our students grow in confidence, independence and resilience as the expedition unfolded was incredibly special. From finding our way through Marrakech and working alongside a local community, to challenging ourselves in the Atlas Mountains, we shared experiences and created memories that I know will stay with us for years. World Challenge gave our students the opportunity to discover what they’re capable of. A huge thank you to everyone at World Challenge and in particular Jess, our Expedition Leader!

Teacher, Saint Felix School, Morocco school expedition

The World Challenge model offered our pupils an exceptional experience. The planning of the trip is handled by experts, the communication with our parents has been regular and informative, and the organisation has been seamless. Our pupils have been suitably challenged in unique and inspiring locations, and unlike other school trips, the pupils are all expected to take on leadership roles throughout the trip. Would highly recommend.
